We had the privilege to transform a Moraga townhouse for a very special family who had waited decades to create the home of their dreams. The Before & After shots of this home are some of our favorite to date!
Like many older Moraga homes, we found features that simply did not comply with modern life. For example, the kitchen had a half wall blocking off access to the rest of the home, accompanied by a small “ceiling” of lights (we called it a bridge!) running across the top. The cabinets were poorly designed limiting functionality, so we knew we had to address that right away. We were also able to make simpler changes, like removing the popcorn ceiling and adding hardwood flooring throughout for quick impact.
When working with an open concept floor plan, it’s important to create zones for each activity so that space feels warm, layered and inviting. It’s easy for open floor plans to feel cold, white, and boxy, so we added warm beams, layered rugs, accent lighting and more for warmth and intentionality.
