This is for all my neutral color palette lovers! If you’re like me, you love a calming, bright and neutral home. It can feel scary to add bold colors and you don’t want to invest in items you may “get sick of”. With the holidays approaching, it’s the perfect time to explore bold, rich color tones and start adding them in decorative ways!
The color of the season is MERLOT (aka burgundy; but merlot is more fun to say)! I am a big believer that colors with earthy undertones (like browns or greens) can actually be used as a neutral. So before you shy away from the rich merlot color, consider layering it into your home decor for added character and interest.
RUGS: I start decorating the majority of my spaces by starting off with the rug. Grounding the space is so important, and adding a vintage rug with bold colors creates visual interest and textural warmth, while adding character to the home.
DECOR: Florals, Pillows, Art & Candles
Okay so this one seems obvious, but adding contrasting color elements to an otherwise neutral space is what makes a space! The below photos showcase “neutral” homes, but the decor is anything but! Instead, it serves to create a rich, warm and inviting space.

SPECIALTY SPACES:
You’ve heard it before, but we’re saying it again! Try a bold color in spaces like your Powder Room, Water Closet or Mudroom. Whether it’s a decorative wallpaper or saturated paint color, you can go bold in these spaces and build a little contrast in your home. If you end up hating it, it’s a small space and small project to re-do! 😉
